I have to put this on record and in perspective.
I am NOT anti-muslim...
I don't care what your religion is. If it works for you, that's fine - just don't try to convert me or tell me I'm damned to hell (or Minnesota) if I don't find your true god. There is something that I will point out. Pretty much every religion has killed for fucked up reasons. Hey - the Vatican (think Crusades) probably killed more people than Stalin, but that's way in the past. Recent history tells us something diferent,, as evidenced in this graphic:
It's not up to me to tell you how to think about anything - I just
ran across that graphic and thought I'd share it with you.
No more, no less...

Islam is a pox on society.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I hate the Catholic Church (and it's anti-Christian stance), the crusades did NOT come anywhere close to the number of people killed as Stalin. If for no other reason, there weren't nearly as many people alive on the planet during the crusades. Additionally, the crusades, as stupid and poorly executed as they were, were a direct response to the Muslim attacks on the Christian world.
ReplyDeleteIslam is NOT a religion. It's a seventh century death cult.
ReplyDeleteI have no problem with muslims. I do, however, have a huge issue with islam. Since islam isn’t a race, I can’t be called racist. islam is a war plane and not a religion.
ReplyDeleteThe crusades were a defensive operation in reaction to Muslim aggression against Jerusalem and other (at the time) Christian cities in the middle east. You need a different example for Christian inspired mindless violence. I personally prefer the 30 years war.
ReplyDeleteAnd the English Civil War.
DeleteAs Dan said, the Crusades wer in reaction to islamic terror. Destruction of Christian churches, towns and holy sites. Enslavement of Christians, usually by murdering all the old people, all the males over 10 years old, or blinding the useful males after castrating them, and forcibly sexually enslaving all the women of breeding age. Just like they're still doing in Africa today.
The only questionable Crusade was the Albigensian Crusade, which was a Crusade against the break-away supposedly Christian Cathars in France. The Cathars were more like a cult, in that those who knew they were saved were saved and everyone else was not nor ever will be saved and the unsaved had to serve the saved. So a crusade against a sex and property cult.
Then again, if the Byzantines had just helped the Crusaders, there probably would still be Christian states in the middle east. But, no, the Byzantines had to shaft the western Europeans every time they could. Which is why when the Ottomans got close to taking Constantinople, there wasn't a lot of help from Europe.
"By the twitching of my thumbs, something wicked this way come." said Charles Martel, I think.
