Does anyone understand what tis NetFlix/Warner deal is all about? Well, for one thing, it'll be the death knell for movie theaters...

We touched on this the other day, but the scenario's changed a bit. Paramount upped the ante with an alternate $ 100 billion dollar buy-out offer. Both Paramount and NetFlix are, of course, streaming services, so it's a nothing-for-nothing deal no matter who gets control. One way or another, you're gonna pay a lot more for your entertainment., and you can forget about the $6.00 sodas and $9.00 popcorn, it won't be too long beofre all new release movies go straight to streaming, bypassing theaters entirely. That's almost a given.

Wanna see a new movie? You can watch it at home for $20.00 and make your own popcorn. Why $20.00? That's my guess at a high price because the streaming service can't control the number of watchers present, like they could with theater tickets sold individually...

  2. I'll have to invite the grandkids and buy them cell phones to re-create the ambiance of the theater.
