To quote Alvin Lee, "Everywhere is freaks and hairies, Dykes and fairies, tell me, where is sanity?" Well, it isn't on Duval Street as much any more, except maybe for freak week when the loonies come out of whatever friggin' closets they've been hiding in. Mostly now all ya see during the day are cruise ship passengers wandering aimlessly and not buying anything, but of course they all have to have that one picture of them in front of Sloppy Joe's 'Would you mind please just...'
Every place that's special - that's truly unique - eventually gets 'discovered'.
Now, many - including me - say it’s lost that easy rhythm. Cruise passengers flood the docks, prices climb, and the quiet corners feel harder to find. I'm sure you can name more than a few places similarly afflicted.
Once discovered, they go for the money and become homogenized, and of course, commercialized. I was there a few months back, and, I gotta tell ya, the blush is off that rose - at $ 600 a night for the cheapest hotel room and ten dollar drafts.
I was first there back in the early 70's when you could still sleep on the beach and nobody'd bust yer balls - or rob ya. It was truly fun then. Not so much now. You guys must know places like this that have gone down the toilet...

What the fuck is the media's absolute obsession
with this fat ass fuckin' attention whore?
They can't even do an article about a comet that has the potential of destroying life on Earth without throwing this pretentious cunt in to the mix? God help us. A Harvard astrophysicist who believes the Manhattan-sized comet hurtling towards Earth could possibly be fueled by alien technology has invited Kim Kardashian to join his research team - after she got a quick response from the federal government.
Kardashian asked NASA’s acting administrator Sean Duffy on X last week to spill the “tea” on 3I/ATLAS, the mysterious interstellar comet that’s baffled scientists like Avi Loeb with its anomalous qualities. “Great question!” Duffy promptly responded to Kardashian’s query. “@NASA’s observations show that this is the third interstellar comet to pass through our solar system.

It's interesting that two different artists, presumably not in touch with each other, would address the Damnomi thing in New York pretty much in tandem...

“Save us from the madness. Deliver us from the hypocrisy of attempting to sound reasonable while being unreasonable. Remove the burdens of those who are the collateral damage of this government shutdown, transforming negatives into positives.”

This 'street racer' jerkoff (A 'usual suspect', of course) killed four people on Friday trying to outrun cops - in friggin' downtown Ybor City (Tampa). I think Merriam Webster might have a new subject picture for the word 'jerkoff' in their next edition.

I find getting up to pee much more rewarding than peeing in bed though I haven't peed in bed in a long long time.
ReplyDeleteFor me the lost magical place is Estes Park CO. Was there summer of '74. It was filled with hikers in from the mountains, vans with murals painted on their side. Where you could meet a stranger and have a long discussion on the meaning of "Stairway to heaven." Now it is nothing but high priced homes of the CA rich who are only there a couple weeks of the year. A town that says they do not want you there.
ReplyDeletefor me it is Las Vegas in the 60s and 70s.it was a great place to grow up and live then. if anyone says different then they weren't there then.
DeleteIn 77 a friend took me to Austin. What an experience That was. Years went by, the occasional pass through and the place was getting less and less inviting. I wouldn't even bother to check the place out today.
ReplyDeleteThe rope is gone from Hamilton pool,it's private property now. It's a real something to look at.
Things have gotten so bad in America that a diabetic Barbie is being made? I guess so ...
ReplyDeleteWe do live in a world where a Islamic communist has just been elected as the mayor of America's biggest city. A world where the govt is closed until we pay a $1.5 Trillion dollar ransom to the millionaires that don't control the Senate.

New York State thinks they can ignore Federal law, so why shouldn't NYC think they can ignore state law?
ReplyDeleteVirtually every study is paid for with STOLEN TAX DOLLARS.
ReplyDeleteI've seen a lot of those 'heading for Florida' from NYC memes.
ReplyDeleteThis morning, Realtor.com sent me an e-mail link to an article:

I guess it all comes out even in the end.
