A massive immigration fraud operation in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area has exposed alarming levels of deception, with nearly half of 1,000 investigated immigrant cases revealing fraudulent activity.
The federal initiative, dubbed "Twin Shield," was led by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Among the shocking discoveries were numerous instances of sham marriages, forged documents, visa overstays, and the abuse of H-1B and F-1 visas.
One of the most egregious cases involved an individual who fabricated a death certificate to falsely claim their marriage had ended—despite the spouse still being alive and well in the area.
In another case, an elderly U.S. citizen was exploited through a fraudulent marriage, highlighting a disturbing trend of vulnerable individuals being used in these schemes.
These revelations raise serious concerns about the integrity of the immigration system, as well as potential national security risks tied to such widespread fraud.
While several arrests have been made, the investigation remains active, with officials warning that more actions could follow as additional cases are examined.
DHS has hinted that similar operations targeting immigration fraud could be expanded to other cities in the near future, raising the stakes in the ongoing battle against fraud in the U.S. immigration system. This report is from The Political Insider on Facebook.
