That weird sound? That's just me scratching my head...

Ya know, when you think about it, maybe the government needs to shut down every once in a while - kinda like rebooting your computer in the hopes it'll run better, faster and more economically when it does restart.
I think what we're seeing here today is a classic pissing contest. The far left insists that we spend $ 100,000,000,000.00 on health care for people who aren't even supposed to be here in the first place, and because of that, they think it's okay to shut everything down. Well now, don't that make their Mammas proud...

Will air travel be affected? You bet your sweet bippy it will, as well as border crossing. Air traffic controllers, Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers, and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents will 'remain on the job without pay'. Okay. Put yourself in their position. Ya gonna break your balls to do a good job today? Hmmm...

Of all the stupid ideas this government of ours has ever had, the Volstead Act, officially the National Prohibition Act, was the worst of the worst. It was legislation that enforced the 18th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which prohibited the manufacture, sale, and transport of intoxicating liquors. Passed in 1919 and taking effect in 1920, the act defined "intoxicating" as any beverage with more than 0.5% alcohol. While intended to curb alcohol consumption, it failed due to widespread public resistance, insufficient enforcement resources, and the rise of organized crime and black markets. The Act remained in effect until it was repealed by the 21st Amendment in 1933.
If you get a chance, watch Ken Burns' PBS documentary 'Prohibition'. It's one of his best.

This was a news item yesterday in a British tabloid - that explains the wording of the headline. Grammatically speaking, do you see the same problem I do in that headline?

Let me tell you a little bit about these. I bought two for my kitchen cabinets.
They're rechargeable, held on by self stick magnets, and were real easy
to install (like five minutes). Trust me on these - they work great...

  1. I don't come to your blog every day because I don't like it. There are some parts I skip over but always enjoy the blog. As to the milkman and the girl, is he delivering fresh milk in the picture?

  2. "Grammatically speaking, do you see the same problem I do in that headline?"

No, it sounds like normal English, maybe it's different in American English.

  3. It's only the content (not the format) that keeps me coming back every day.
It irks me every I see (or hear) "Thank you for your service"
I volunteered my service and was proud to do so.
The only ones who thank me are the lily-livered cowards who ran up to Canada, and when forgiven by Mistah Earl, came running back to claim their American citizenship and vote as far left as possible.

  6. Like the non format format. Headline made it sound like the man was stealing from the elephant’s garden.

Tidy up or pay the fiddler...

This house is about four blocks from my house, and, yes, it is a shithole. A Villager has been given one week to remove debris from his prop...
