I wouldn't call it an obsession, would you?

Americans display their flag frequently, a practice that became more common after the Civil War as a symbol of national unity. Other countries also have strong traditions of flag display, but not as much as the good ole' USofA.
The American flag is a popular symbol of national pride, hope, and unity. The widespread use of the flag on items like clothing and products is seen by some as a reflection of a democratic and accessible form of nationalism.
The U.S. Flag Code provides guidelines for how to properly display and show respect for the flag. For example, the flag should not be used as clothing, bedding, or for advertising, and it should not touch the ground. It is a universal custom to display the flag from sunrise to sunset, but it can be displayed 24 hours a day if properly illuminated at night.
Do you have a night light on your flag? You can do it easily with some solar powered spots like I did. Looks cool at night, too...

I bought these exact ones back in May, and haven't
had to replace or re-charge the batteries yet.
They're super bright. Click on the picture to read

  1. LOVE displaying our country's beloved flag, illuminated 24/7/365. Served 30+ years. Cannot tell you how many times I've seen folded flags presented to tearful wives and mothers. Breaks my heart to come home and see our desecrated flag ripped out of her flag mount and thrown on the driveway. Makes me think of the Seditious Gay Kenyan commie's husband who infamously axed (sic) "all this for a damn flag?" Those America hating guys need to go somewhere else. May I suggest a Sharia Law compliant country in the Middle East?

  2. The average American just puts up The Flag, and then promptly forgets about it until it becomes a sun-bleached, tattered relic that looks worse than the flags flown on the world trade center buildings. But I still enjoy seeing old veterans going up to houses and, politely knocking, inform the half-wit of his responsibilities when flying The Flag. It really warms your heart.

  3. In Europe, they're trying to brainwash away national identity in favor of European identity. They're trying to make their national flag equivalent to our state flags. From the looks of it, they're also trying to make everyone ashamed of their own history. So, in that case, they don't want people to honor their own flag.
