Busting myths one at a time...

This mythbusting comes from vinepair.com. Almost everyone has a tequila story. That time you danced on the bar; that time you broke your nose; that time you danced on the bar, fell off and broke your nose.
Lots of people believe that different types of alcohol get them different types of drunk. You may think tequila is the ticket to a wild night, or spirits make you more aggressive than beer, but that’s just it—it’s all in your head.

  1. Congeners differ from alcoholic beverage to beverage. How ones body deals with them can absolutely have an impact not just on the buzz but also the hangover. Yes ethanol is ethanol, but a lot more chemicals result from the various fermentation processes and ingredients that constitute each different kind of liquor.

  2. Maybe it wasn't the tequila after all. I bet it was those damn Quaaludes.

  3. I remember, as a kid, my mom saying that drinking whiskey rather than beer made my dad a nastier drunk. Even though I was a kid I thought my dads mood decided what he was going to drink rather than the booze deciding his mood.

  4. Alcohol might be Alcohol, but I always wondered what the effect of the fusel oils and congeners have on you. Outside of Everclear & clear vodka, other liquors contain them in varying quantities, and they are what makes the taste. They can also be poisonous in larger quantities. So depending on the percentages of fusel oils and congeners, I can see differing hangover and physical effects from the liquor you drink.
