Police have arrested teen Caden Speight for what officials say was an elaborate abduction hoax that had the whole town searching for him. Speight, 17, was reported missing on September 25, but allegedly faked the entire kidnapping. The teen, who lives in Marion County, Florida, (not too far from me) texted his mom claiming to have been shot and kidnapped by four Hispanic men in a van. Speight’s disappearance sparked panic across the community.
An Amber Alert was issued, and neighbors assisted in the search for the missing teen. However, officers later stated that Speight shot himself and fled the scene on a bicycle. “Further investigation and testing revealed that Speight had fired the shot through the windshield, splattered a mixture of blood in the truck, and destroyed his cellphone.
“Speight then fled the area on a bicycle with camping supplies he purchased at Walmart just before the incident.” Investigators say they later learned that the teen had mentioned running away, and they found ChatGPT searches on his laptop about “collecting his blood without causing pain and Mexican cartels.” Speight was found on September 26 by the Williston Police Department.

‘Speight’…what’s in a name.
ReplyDeleteI think if you start with his name, 'Caden,' you can see the stupidity appear. Seriously, what was his mom thinking?
