Loosely translated, Mamdani means 'You're fucked'. New York City's last best hope is this guy, and he's a long shot at best...
Socialist Zohran Mamdani holds a 15-point lead over his fellow Dimorat in the four-way race for New York City mayor - and would beat each of his opponents in hypothetical one-on-one contests. The lefty Democratic nominee captures 43% from voters in the November election, compared to 28% for ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo, 10% for GOP candidate Curtis Sliwa, 7% for current Mayor Eric Adams and 9% undecided.
Mamdani, a 33-year-old Queens assemblyman who trounced Cuomo in the Democratic primary, holds a yawning 29-point lead over the thrice-elected governor among voters under 50. A whopping 85% of Mamdani supporters said they would “definitely” back him, compared to 74% of Sliwa voters, 72% of former Governor and mass-murderer Andrew Cuomo voters and 66% of current Mayor Adams voters.
We all know most polls are bullshit most of the time, but these numbers should scare the fuck out of anyone who lives in the Big Apple. Cuomo and Adams should drop out and let Sliwa go mano-a-mano with Mamasboy. If the Dim wins out, the wooshing sound you'll hear will be the vacuum created by people bailing out of the City that never sleeps.

I've always kinda wondered how that doesn't happen every day on every ship I see loaded like that. Those containers aren't locked down or secured in any way, are they? You'd think they'd have some big-ass straps or some shit tyin' em down.

So, back in '85 or thereabouts, Babs was bugging me to take ballroom dancing lessons, and this is where they held 'em. A: I didn't know you should wear shoes, not sneakers. and B: No matter what dance we were attempting to learn, all the music sounded the same. Suffice to say we didn't go back for a second lesson. If ya need me, I'll be at the bar. Dancing just ain't my thing...

Pete Hegseth has donated his entire $5 million in recent book royalties and speaking tour earnings to build a series of veteran support centers in Minnesota, his home state.

It's a sad story about a buncha illegals having a really loud, drunk-ass party in a mobile home park and one poor illegal bastard who, having passed out outside, got run over and killed by another drunk illegal who was leaving in a stolen van, but that's not my reason for posting this. Take a look. Are they not six of the genuinely most ugliest motherfuckers you've ever seen? Ya really gotta wonder what's in the water down in Guatamala, don'tcha? Jeez...

After billions of dollars wasted, right now (at 1:00 pm on September 7th, 2025, actually), ALL the wind turbines in New England were contributing 1.52% of the power to their grid. Or in other words - only 185 MW of the current system demand of 12,203 MW. Once again, it is natural gas at 54% and nuclear at 27% keeping their lights on.

Have you ever tried one of these?
We got turned on to these by my Brother TJ probably 20 years ago while we were at his house in Belfast. Over in Ireland, they have a 'wee cuppa' - how they say 'tea' - three or four or more times a day.
Anyway, we have one in our kitchen and it's great for a coupla reasons. First and foremost, Babs and I are tea drinkers, so there's that. The other thing is, if you fill this thing full and turn it on, it gets the water to baoil in about a minute.
Use that water to start your pasta in, and you're eating easily 15 minutes sooner. Juss' sayin' - I like it. Click on the picture and get one for yourself.
This is the tea we like, also from Belfast:
It's also available on Amazon here.

What did most of the 'real' Hippies want? Having grown tired of societal norms and pressures, all they wanted was to be left alone to live a self-sustaining, carefree, unburdened life. What did we learn from all of that? We learned that, as a group, we are incapable of living like that.
Individually, sure, they might have had a shot at their nirvana if they went out on their own, but group dynamics will always kick in and make any manner of idealic lifestyle impossible to obtain en masse. Sad but true...

We've used an "electric kettle" for years - now we wonder how we lived without one !
ReplyDeleteThe shipping containers are locked together at the corners, one big bolt. That does not really help when they topple like that.
ReplyDeleteSadly true. I was there and it was kind of like high school without the chance to take hot showers. You always had a bossy chick, and a guy who only knew one thing: "you're wrong!" and the moocher.

ReplyDeleteand you all thought COVID was the biggest scam you'd ever see in your lifetime
Political cartoonist who is already behind the times in understanding what is going on. And if he really had any legal knowledge, he'd have known that the appellate judges are ripe for getting a SCOTUS smackdown. BTW, it is mostly just appellate judges from the east and west coasts.
ReplyDeleteAnd the Appellate Court rulings get shot down by higher courts, then some other Appellate Court does it again, which gets shot down, and then the cycle continues endlessly.
DeleteShipping containers are secured with things like double ended twist locks etc for stacking.
ReplyDeleteLol, do you really believe Hegseth donated millions to veterans? Jesus the facebook maga crap people gobble up for breakfast...
ReplyDeleteWhy is anyone surprised over the lack of actual funds from FireAid going to actual victims?
ReplyDeleteAfter all, UNICEF funded dictators, not childrens's meals.
LiveAid funded parties and administrators while doing nothing about AIDS.
The Red Cross does nothing with any of it's collected monies for actual aid.
Only 10%, on a good day, of the money March of Dimes collects goes to actually attempting to help ill people.
All of the money collected for Haiti by the Clintons?
Find a charity. And more often than not it's a scam designed to fund the administration of the charity and not actually be charitable.
Even the Salvation Army has gone woke, anti-religious and become, in many places, a scam, existing to collect money so it can exist.
NY might be a lost cause at this point. As the saying goes - "You don't always get want you want but you get what you deserve." Those voters will soon find a hellhole straight out of the movie Escape from New York. Only Snake Plisskin isn't coming to save anyone.
ReplyDeleteBeyond corner locks on TEUs / shipping containers, they are lashed usually using rods. Apologize for narrator's accent, but it seems the easiest video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JebcH4_LVEU. Additionally, these incidents occur in port, before lashing may have begun but loading continues shifting vessel's balance or during unloading or loading, or one "bumps" another. Worse is when containers are lost at sea, the vessel may not even be aware of it (or does) and the boxes float hidden below surface of waves and struck by another vessel following a similar course; I saw this in the North Pacific and Bering Sea.
