Laura Lee Yourex, 62, was charged with five felonies on Friday after she casted ballots in her dog’s name which were successfully counted in a state election. Yourex self-reported to the Orange County Registrar of Voter’s Office that she had registered her dog, Maya Jean, to vote in a 2021 gubernatorial election and the 2022 primary. The Costa Mesa resident's dog's vote was counted in the 2021 election but rejected in 2022.
According to the Orange County District Attorney's Office, proof of residence or identification is not required for citizens to register to vote or cast a ballot in state elections.
She's not an idiot for using her dog to vote. She's an idiot for ratting herself out.

ReplyDeleteThe only reason they are charging her is that she embarrassed the local authorities about how lame their voting integrity is. This is akin to whistleblower retaliation. She did the public a favor. Now its up to the system to fix itself. Which it obviously doesn't want to do.
