We don't 'labor' on Labor Day, so why call it that?

What is the purpose of Labor Day? I've always thought it was just a day to mark the end of summer and, back in the day, to acknowledge that fuckin' around time was over and it was back-to-schoold for the kiddies.
Most Americans do associate Labor Day with the end of summer, but the holiday was originally a form of worker activism during a period of rapid industrialization. Solidarity, not barbecue, was the buzzword back then.
Labor Day is an American federal holiday established to honor the social and economic achievements of American workers and recognize the contributions of the labor movement to the nation's prosperity. Born from the harsh conditions of the late 19th century, it celebrates the struggle for better working conditions, fair wages, and reasonable hours, with the first major parade held in New York City in 1882 and it becoming a federal holiday in 1894.

Johnson believes locking up criminals “is not the way to drive violence down.” Sure, just let them roam free to pounce on innocent victims. The Post queries - Is this guy nuts? No wonder Chicago has averaged more than a murder a day this year, four times New York’s per-capita rate.
As for her claim, if defendants in New York courts have no other open cases, judges must set them free with no cash required when they’re charged with drug sales, grand larceny, robbery, criminal mischief, arson, identity theft, public lewdness, riot, criminal trespass and numerous other crimes.

This ain't yer Daddy's college football anymore, Skippy - this shit is big business now. In last year's season, players made $853.1 million from deals facilitated by school collectives and $150.5 million from commercial deals. Revenue sharing and commercial deals are expected to reach $290 million, collective money is expected to drop by $213.4 million. However, athletic departments are now allowed to share up to $20.5 million of revenue with athletes. This new money is projected to add $1.4 billion to the amount of money college players make. With this new money, college (read amateur) players are expected to make $2.4 billion in 2026 and $2.6 billion in 2027.

Robert F Kennedy Jr. said he 'assesses children in his head when he passes them on the street or at an airport'. The man may have a few screws loose somewhere.

'I know what a healthy child is supposed to look like,' he said alongside Texas Governor
Greg Abbott at the signing of the Make America Healthy Again bill.
