The Bay of Pigs invasion was a failed landing operation on the southwestern coast of Cuba in April 1961 by Cuban exiles who were covertly financed and directed by the U.S. government.
The primary reasons for the invasion's failure were a lack of air support, poor intelligence, and the unexpected strength of Cuban defenses.
The statement that the Pentagon "forgot about time zones" is a comedic fabrication and not a factual reason for the invasion's failure. There is a good, credible source for info on this botched mission here.

One of the reasons the Bay of Pigs invasion failed was because the CIA chickened out and withheld support for the invaders. Not to mention poorly planned.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if it was a mistake or done on purpose to give Kennedy a bad rap? I wonder if this book will answer this?

Hadn't these clowns ever heard of ZULU Time? When I was in the Service (1974-2012) that was all we used for any official correspondence or planning. Hell, I still keep the "Time-2" on my watch set to it.
