According to the YouGov survey mentioned in the image and confirmed by
search results, anchovies are indeed the most despised food in the U.S., with 56% of Americans disliking or hating them.
The survey also identified other foods widely disliked or hated by Americans:
Liver: 54%.
Sardines: 52%.
Tofu: 46%.
Squid: 44%.
Caviar: 43%.
Oysters: 42%.
Blue Cheese: 39%.
These findings highlight a strong aversion to certain seafood and bold-flavored items among American adults surveyed.
As for myself, Liver'd be at the top of my list, and why aren't Lima Beans in the top five? That just doesn't make sense -
inquiring minds need to know...
Where they ALL belong if ya ask me.
Cheaper than Super Market bags, too

Y'all over in freedom land need to have your taste buds checked. I eat liver at least once a week (chicken or lamb), squid, oysters, caviar & blue cheese are awesome but pricey. tofu I'm ok with, sardines in a can I don't like but I like them fresh.
ReplyDeleteGrowing up my grandmother would cook calf liver in onion gravy, mashed potatoes & spinach. I inherited the house & to this day I smell it like she cooked it yesterday. Nasty. She's been gone for 35,yrs. Now I could eat 5lbs of chicken liver. You don't like Lima beans? That's crazy. I could go for a big bowl of limas over rice with an Ox tail. Mmmm.
ReplyDeleteI would bet that 80+% of the Tofu haters have NEVER EVEN TRIED IT (and it can be prepared a million ways). And when you say oysters, are those raw (cold snot/phlegm basically), or cooked? And are those sardines in oil or tomato sauce?
ReplyDeleteCilantro. I'm among the 20% that think it tastes like soap. I like squid. Takoyaki is great. Liver is meh, no like, but I don't hate it. Ditto anchovies and blue cheese.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't like anchovies but use Worcestershire sauce then you're contradictory. The sauce is an ancient Roman condiment called garum brought to Britain by the empire. The Brits made it their own. Taste for lima beans is a genetic thing. Liver and other organ meats are just too disgusting for me.
