ReplyDeleteOn another note, I just go back from Boston where I saw the Savannah Banana's and the Firemen play a two game series. I have never had so much fun at a ballpark. It went beyond the game. I flew to Boston with 2 of the Firemen pitchers. These guys are amped to be part of the show. That is what it is, a show for fan entertainment. They are athletic entertainers that play a very warped version of baseball that breaks out into song and dance with a sidebar of a mini concert by the Great American Rejects or the Boston Fire Department Pipes and Drum core with an outfield backflip catch or two for an out. When I flew back to Savannah today, there were at least a dozen players and support personnel on my flight. They were dog tired but kept in character to the fans that had seen them during the weekend who were going back to SAV. Especially to the kids that saw them. It did not matter which jersey they wore they had one goal, to entertain on and off the field.
This was a father/daughter weekend for me. The best weekend in a while, I was able to treat my daughter, nephew, and his finance to an evening of entertainment with the Banana's & Firemen in the bleachers under the overhang on the side of third base, section 25 - great seats at Fenway. They were entertained as was my daughter and I. The Sunday game we were guests of one of my daughter's friends that had Sox season tickets. We baked in the bleachers in right field but had a good time. The daughter looks a bit like a cooked lobster even with sunscreen. She inherited her mother's fair Irish skin while my distant Ute heritage makes it difficult for me to burn even without sunscreen. I did get a lot of sun but it soaked in.
