Last night I tried to do a post featuring the unedited version of this montage, and was 'told' by whoever that the post would not be published because it violated 'community standards'. ReplyDeleteThe Sig Sauer story reminds me of one I heard from a 2nd LT deployed to Korea, whose 1911 had an AD in a concrete bunker full of other troops. Nobody was hit, and but for the testimony of a senior enlisted guy that the LT's finger never touched the trigger, he'd have been in some trouble. The 1911 was so old and worn that it self-discharged.

ReplyDeleteLike a good ballcap, never get rid of it. Current pickup has 269k miles (Dodge 2500 diesel, so expected higher mileage). She’s in great shape…will run it until the bed falls off…then install a flatbed.
New and newER trucks will "code out" (die on the road) on you and you will have to get towed to a shop or dealer. It will be a PITA, expensive, frustrating AND angering. Many are convinced that newer vehicles are programmed to "code" you into the dealer to get "fixed" because otherwise they would go out of business.

My current truck is a 2016 F350 with 102K on it. It is just broken in. The last truck was a Toyota POS. I sold it with 120k on the clock. It always had something going wrong with it, expensive things. The previous truck was a 99 F150 that I got 188k out of it. It was totaled at 24k and brought back to life where it fell apart at 188k. The one before that was a 78 F150. The odometer broke when it had rolled over and was showing 33k, I drove it 7 more years.
