Who smokes more than us?

 
This graphic illustrates the percentage of tobacco smokers aged 15 and above in select countries, broken down by gender.  The chart lists male smoking rates for Indonesia (72.8%), China (44.4%), S. Korea (39.6%), France (35.2%), Russia (31.4%), Japan (26.5%), U.S. (22.8%), Germany (21.4%), Brazil (14.1%), and India (10.9%).
Corresponding female smoking rates are also shown for these countries: Indonesia (1.8%), China (1.4%), S. Korea (18.2%), France (34%), Russia (5.7%), Japan (9.1%), U.S. (16%), Germany (18%), Brazil (8.1%), and India (0.9%).
The chart highlights significant gender disparities in smoking rates in many countries, such as Indonesia where male smoking rates are considerably higher than female rates, while in countries like France, the rates are much closer.

  1. When I was 8 or 10 my grandpa let me try his pipe. It was so disgusting I never had the urge to smoke again.
