The difference between a peaceful protest and a riot? Easy...

In a media session with the Governor yesterday, our buddy Sherrif Judd explained it in the simplest way he could. 'This', he said, holding up the picture in his right hand, 'is a peaceful protest'. Holding up the second picture he said 'This is a riot. If you start a riot, you're going to jail. If you strike an officer, you're going to jail. If you stop traffic, you're going to jail. If you start a fire, you're going to jail. If you steal something, you're going to jail, and someone will be stealing your food off of your food tray. I think he made his point, but if he didn't, the sheriff of Brevard County certainly did sum up what our sherrifs here in Florida feel about what's going on in other big citiies. Take a look:

Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis assured drivers in his state that they have the right to hit protesters if they're trying to get to safety, saying Floridians have a right to defend themselves.

"We have a policy that if you're driving on one of those streets and a mob comes and surrounds your vehicle and threatens you, you have a right to flee for your safety. And so, if you drive off and you hit one of these people, that's their fault for impinging on you."

Democrats are hoping that young men aren't lost to the GOP forever. For several emerging leaders in the party - and potential contenders in the 2028 presidential race - that has meant making these voters a bigger priority, both in their policy proposals and in messaging that is increasingly tailored to them.

If the Ukranians hadn't voluntarily given up their nuclear weapons, none of this shit would be happening. Or - the entire world would be at war. Like anything else, it all depends on just how friggin' crazy the guy - any guy - is with his finger on the nuke button.

"You don't have to sit there and just be a sitting duck and let the mob grab you out of your car and drag you through the streets. You have a right to defend yourself in Florida."

  1. That sheriffs comments should be enshrined on the Statue of Liberty.
It should be federal law that protesters can be run over.

  2. It was the U.S. who made Ukraine give up their nukes as I recall.

  3. The Ukrainians never had nuclear weapons; they were the former Soviet Union's weapons, and the keys (launch codes) were in Moscow. The west wanted the nukes out of Ukraine in case someone stole one... there was a lot of stealing going on at the time... see The Lord Of War.

  4. The police chief of Mobile said the same thing about the protests, got the democrats panties in a wad & want him to resign. He laughed in their face.

  5. Yes, we generally have plans to invade or attack any place where there is an issue.

The war plan we followed in the Pacific against the Japanese in WWII? Thought up years before. We even wargamed them and wargamed an aerial attack on Pearl Harbor using our own carriers.

We even have had, since the 80's, plans to bomb the dogsnot out of the Hague, where the International Criminal Court is, in case agents of the ICC arrest any US servicemember and try to conduct war crime trials on said servicemember. That plan is literally called "Bomb the Hague Plan" by everyone who knows about it no matter what the actual operational command name is.
