  1. One week when I was nine years old, my brother and I decided we were getting too many vitamin pills every morning. Not a one-a-day vitamin; a little saucer of every specific nutrient for which a pill had been invented. So, in the back yard, each of us had a rosebush. We had very well nourished rosebushes with lots of blooms that summer...even though the plot was discovered within a week.
