Megha Vemuri, a 2025 MIT graduate, sparked nationwide debate with her commencement speech criticizing MIT's ties to the Israeli military and advocating for Palestine. Wearing a keffiyeh (she was born in India, so WTF is her problem?), she voiced her concerns about 'institutional suppression' and contrasted the graduation with Gaza's devastation. While some graduatgot pissed off and walked out.
Vemuri’s contentious remarks led to her being barred from attending Friday’s undergraduate ceremony, an MIT spokesperson said, noting that the speech she delivered 'was not the version submitted in advance to university officials'.
“MIT supports free expression but stands by its decision, which was in response to the individual deliberately and repeatedly misleading Commencement organizers and leading a protest from the stage, disrupting an important Institute ceremony,” the university said.

Yep.

Defend yourself, and YOU are accused of committing genocide?
Get real please.
Kick them all out of the USA. No more free tuition. No more privileges. We don’t want their attitude here.
ReplyDeleteRegardless of her politics, they should withhold her degree, she brought disrepute to the institution by lying about her speech's content. Dot Indians are heap big trouble.
ReplyDeleteWhen she showed up wearing a keffiyeh campus police should have pulled her off the stage. MIT needs to pull her degree. Her visa status needs to be pulled and ICE needs to send her back to India.
ReplyDeleteThe keffiyeh is the new swastika.
