Why is Trump getting jacked up about putting tariffs on foreign-made films? Maybe somebody hipped him to the fact that Canada's been getting a shitload of film business from Hollywood for years and years, because of lower wages and tax insentives they give out like so much candy. Here's a perfect example from the 'Betcha didn't know that' file: In the Christmas movie Elf, there’s plenty of real New York on display of course, but most of the interiors were filmed in an abandoned mental hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia. It's Riverview Hospital, 2601 Lougheed Highway, in Coquitlam, east of Vancouver, which has been used in plenty of other movies and TV shows, including Deadpool, The Butterfly Effect and Final Destination 2.
A good question to ask is 'why are you only finding out about this now - from me of all people? Because Hollywood has more dark secrets than any other industry you can think of, and this is one of their bigger ones they'd prefer you didn't know about.
...

Trump is just trolling Hollywood: they HATE him so now they have to HATE these tariffs also, or SHUT UP.
ReplyDeleteThe panic, the chaos and the calls for impeachment come from folks that can not define a woman. Were going to need these folks to take and pass a remedial education course in reality before we can discuss an policy.
ReplyDeleteSome war-type historical movies are filmed in Romania and Bulgaria. A lot of films are done in North Africa. And Bond films are made all over tho that is no secret. Hollywood still gets huge tax breaks which is why dumbass actors are millionaires.
ReplyDeleteYears ago, I remember a pre-disgraced Alex Baldwin testifying before the California legislature that taxes were killing Hollywood and pushing them out of California. I found it amusing that the left-wing nut couldn't think the problem through and realize it was a problem for all industries. Glad Trump is trolling them, but I'm content with Hollywood dying.
