I agree it's good to be efficient, but in spelling? C'mon, Ben...

Benjamin Franklin was always coming up with new ideas. His mind was wired to invent, which gave the world bifocals, the lightning rod, an improved catheter (no, seriously), and … a failed alphabet.  Franklin, who liked life to be as logical as possible, thought that this was redundant, unnecessary.
This is why Franklin’s new American alphabet cut out C, J, Q, W, X, and (not sometimes, all the times) Y. In his mind, why would the letter c exist when there were already letters that could cover the hard and soft sounds unambiguously? His alphabet was not only about taking letters away, though. He also added a few of his own to turn sounds like “th” into single characters.

Franklin’s new alphabet was finally published in 1789, in a piece he titled ‘A Reformed Mode of Spelling’ – which he was only able to do after specially commissioning a typesetter to forge metal type of the new characters he had created.

Speaking of pickles, I took my wife with me to go grocery shopping last week, and when we got home, she started putting stuff away. I saw her look quizzingly at a jar of pickles and then she popped the top off, put it back on, and put it in the fridge. She had just read the label on the jar. Like I've mentioned, she's not exactly a 'foodie'...

Overtime wages and tips, which are treated like regular wages with federal and state income taxes, Social Security and Medicare withholding, would not be taxed if Trump's 'Big Badass Bill' passes.

It will also raise the National Debt 5 trillion smackaroos...

Read an interesting article a while back that talked about how canned fish are such an important part of most European diets, and how here in the States our idea of canned fish pretty much only extends to canned tuna. I thank my mother for my Italian blood, because I do cook with a variety of canned fish - and other products of the sea like calamari and snails and such.

    1. A million dollat "starter home' is a very good example of how much the dollar's purchasing power has been destroyed (stolen) by the crooks and nincompoops in congress over the last 75 years. In the 1950s a Hershey bar was 5¢, today a Hershey bar costs $1.30 or more - thats 26 times the 1950s price.
