My dad sold most of the equipment that was use to build the new Daytona track. He and "Fireball" Roberts were the first people to ride around the track when the final coating of asphalt was dry. Bill France owner of the track tried to get dad to come work for him. He declined unfortunately. No telling what my life would have been like. If he had accepted.
ReplyDeleteMy father raced a bike in the Daytona 200 on that beach. He was way out in front when his transmission blew up because the mechanic put the wrong oil in it.
