Heartbroken TikTokkers are going cuckoo. Users of the now defunct social app nationwide are mourning its loss early Sunday, after the app went dark for its 170 million American users in the face of a legal US ban. “ITS GONE TIKTOK IS GONE,” one user posted to X with a gif of someone nervously smoking.
The online freak out began after TikTok went dark in the US before 11 p.m., and users were greeted with a message that said: “Sorry TikTok isn’t available right now” and the site was otherwise unusable. “Tiktok is gone and im already having withdrawals,” another user posted.

In a small Irish town sits a stainless steel reminder of that country's historic link to Oklahoma and the Choctaw Nation. Nine handmade feathers curve up from a concrete foundation, symbolizing the shape of an empty bowl.
The feathers, meant to represent the Choctaw Nation's strength, kindness and humanity, are delicate and give off a metallic luster when illuminated by the sun.
The sculpture stands 20 feet tall near a popular walking path in Bailic Park in Midleton, a town of about 12,000 on Ireland's southern coast. The work, named “Kindred Spirits,” is meant to symbolize the shared history between the Choctaw Nation and the Irish, which began with a $170 donation. Though an ocean away, a mutual feeling of oppression united the tribe with the Irish. In 1847, the Choctaw Nation scraped together $170, about $5,000 today, to send to the starving poor in Ireland.
... that low? I believe not. Joe sets the new record....

ReplyDeleteThose feathers shook my soul. a reminder of what humanity could be...
ReplyDeleteWhat shook me is that $170 could buy what it takes $5000 to buy today.
Delete"Egg salad sandwiches? Really, Frank?"
ReplyDeleteOf course, Frank did things "MY WAY".
🤣🤣🤣
about 15 years ago. I helped (did) a hot water heater job for some co-workers . most of the time, I could swap one out in 1.5 hours. yup. whole deal. removing the old one and installing a new one. with my "co-workers" it took almost 5-6 hours.
ReplyDeletejust getting a new one from home defect took over a hour (??) like what is the difference between a 3 or 5 year one.
after explaining that to them. getting in the truck was a job in it's self. they where amazed at how "people" carried and moved stuff from the place. one guy was even filming it. yup. like above but worse. (outside of Philly)
then had to explain the difference between soft and hard copper lines- again at least 45 minutes.
anyway, said guy. when he is bored ,will go the home defect and just watch the morons as he calls them.
load or try to load their cars/trucks or whatever. ME, I try to get in and out as fast as I can.
BTW, he bought a 3 year model and it lasted 3 years and 4 months before it started leaking on him.
he did that job all by himself. I had installed valves and unions so the next time it be easy to do.
taking a little time and money makes the job so much easier the next time it needs done.
but yeah. you are right. I do wonder about people and if we are going to "make it"
I remember when water heaters had 12-15 yr guarantees.
Deleteactually i think that ballroom dancing classes would be great for older people ( like myself ) to maintain mobility.
