That Woolworth's menu? There's a metric you almost never hear from the Gubmint or from the media, and that metric is purchasing power. Americans' purchasing power, that is, how much they could get for their earned money, peaked in 1965, since when it has steadily declined.
ReplyDeleteIt is an excellent and easy to understand visual of how much the federal government has devalued the U.S. dollar.
ReplyDeleteIn other words, how much value the government has stolen from us with its inflationary policies. In 1960 a Hershey bar cost 5 cents. Today a Hershey bar costs at least 25 to 35 times that in 2025 dollars.
