Bud Abbott was, arguably, the best ever comedy straight man - never missed a beat; in his duo's own routines Abbott never succumbed to pause to stifle his laugh, and never laughed to spoil the schtick. Groucho Marx said that Abbott was "the greatest straight man that ever lived."
