Dickey Betts, a founding member of the Allman Brothers Band,
died at at his home in Osprey, Fla. on Thursday. The influential guitarist, songwriter and vocalist had been battling two kinds of cancer as well as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). He was 80 years old. Betts' blues, rock and country-influenced guitar style helped define Southern rock.

Fox reported yesterday that Trump leads Biden in two battleground states and is tied with the incumbent in two others, according to a new 2024 general election poll. According to their numbers, Trump is up on Biden in Michigan and Georgia, the numbers coming from a Fox News survey of registered voters. In a head-to-head matchup, the no-doubt-about-it (but we still gotta wait for the convention) Republican nominee received 49% support in Michigan compared to the president’s 46% backing.
