And just to throw some shit in the game, us Navy A-6 Intruder types will fondly remember "Jury Struts" that went between the inner and outer wing panels when the wings were folded. It kept the outer wing panel from bouncing in high winds, saving wear and tear on the wingfold hinges.

I always thought the "Jerry" was derived from WWII slang for German.
ReplyDeleteI was told that jerry-rigged is a derivative of Gerry mandering. I Politician named Gerry manipulated political boundaries to get re-elected. The resulting boundary looked like a salamander and it became Gerry's salamander and later gerrymandering, then Gerry rigging and so on. (might not be true)
