First they charge you big money for the E-Car...

Then they charge you to charge it. And if you're ina BIG hurry, they'll charge you more...

I'm kinda out of the loop on this whole EV thing, so pretty much anything I learn about it amazes me. Like this one - Tesla recently started opening its Supercharger network to outside EV brands, but the influx of more vehicles to charge has put a strain on the system. To help with the surge, the automaker has started charging congestion fees of up to $1 per minute at busy Supercharger locations. The fee is intended to get drivers in and out of the charging stations faster by making it more expensive to charge to 100 percent. Some Superchargers already charge an idle fee that discourages leaving a fully- or almost fully-charged vehicle plugged in for too long, and the new congestion fee starts once a vehicle has reached 90 percent.

This Musk guy is a fuckin' genius...

"Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be."
–George Washington's Thanksgiving Proclamation, October 3, 1789

I can honestly say I've never seen this before. The caption said
it's the first edition of Monopoly, from back in 1906. That prompted me to investigate further. Turns out, neither Milton nor Bradley had anything to do with it at first...
In 1904, a typist named Elizabeth Magie received a patent for something she called the Landlord’s Game, in which players took turns earning wages, paying rent and trying to avoid going to jail.
The patent described a game played on a square board, with a jail in one corner and a public park (predecessor to “Free Parking”) in another; nine spaces on each side with a railroad in the middle; and one space with the iconic phrase “go to jail.”
The game also had some features that were later dropped, such as squares where players had to buy bread or other necessities. The goal was to help spread the theories of Henry George, a political economist who criticized monopolies and promoted a radical land-value tax that was briefly tried in Hyattsville, MD in 1892 and is still debated today. “It is a practical demonstration of the present system of land-grabbing with all its usual outcomes and consequences,” Magie wrote in a description of the game. Who knew it had that kinda backgfround, huh?

For the ultimate TV Thanksgiving, look no further than the 1968 episode of The Beverly Hillbillies, “The Thanksgiving Spirit.” The crossover episode not only features the Clampetts, it features the cast members of Green Acres and Petticoat Junction. The episode culminates with a shared dinner that includes characters from the three shows.

The suit comes amid public tension between Hall and Oates, Philadelphia magazine reported. Hall said that Oates was not his “creative partner” during an 2022 interview on Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast. “He’s my business partner. He’s not my creative partner,” Hall said to Maher.
“John and I are brothers, but we are not creative brothers. We are business partners. We made records called Hall & Oates together, but we’ve always been very separate, and that’s a really important thing for me,” Hall added. The group have been performing as a duo since 1972, with their debut album Whole Oats. The duo toured together as recently as October 2022, but have toured and recorded separately throughout the years.

'A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving' turns 50 this year. Has anyone ever explained why they made the little black kid 'Franklin' sit by himself on the other side of the table? Asking for a friend...

  3. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours Joe from the SST family. We have 19 coming over and will be serving a small ham, a small turkey,a boneless leg of prime American lamb and of a course a large whomping tray of my wife’s lasagna. And the cocktail of the day (a tradition we started 20 years ago) will be a New Orleans favorite of mine, the Vieux Carre. One or two of those babies will take an edge off of an ax!

  4. Just pointing out - the turkey on the platter in "This Thanksgiving" is not on it's back but it's belly, and perfectly positioned for "doggie style" .
    Just sayin ' !
