There have been a total of 126 attacks, 27 of which were fatal,
documented in North America in the past 100 years. Fatal cougar attacks are extremely rare and occur much less frequently than fatal snake bites, fatal lightning strikes, or fatal bee stings.
FYI - as far as the bee sting thing goes, during 2000–2017, a total of 1,109 deaths from hornet, wasp, and bee stings occurred, for an annual average of 62 deaths. Deaths ranged from a low of 43 in 2001 to a high of 89 in 2017. Children are particularly vulnerable.
And yet someone thought this mountain lion thing was
important enough for you to know. Go figure...
Rule 1: Pull out my 1911 and blow the fucker away

DeleteIf you lived or traveled in mountain lion country ... it might seem import. Just like knowing what beaches in Florida have the most shark attacks. Most of us couldn't care less.
ReplyDeleteMissing was a comment to not try and take a selfie with the animal. Now THAT would be pertinent advice for today's stupid folks.
ReplyDeleteState Fish and Wildlife officials are responsible for each State's fish and wildlife. It's a liability thing, to not publicly inform the public of the potential dangers of potentially dangerous animals that exist in their respective state. Sad, but true. However, there are numerous possibilities that are not in writing, of other species of concern.
