The price we're paying for the Covid shutdowns keeps getting higher and higher...

Fast-food chain Burger King plans to close up to 400 restaurants by the end of 2023, as several large Burger King franchisees have filed for bankruptcy.
Restaurant Brands International Inc., the parent company of Burger King, announced it is preparing to shutter between 300 to 400 locations, and its CEO said the company has a history of shutting down “a couple hundred” Burger King locations every year, although most of these closings are not the same as previous shutdowns. Most of these are for franchisees who got crushed during the covid shutdowns and were never able to recover.
According to a release from Restaurant Brands International, 124 Burger King locations have already closed this year, leaving the total number of open locations in the U.S. at around 7,000.

Burger King did not disclose which future locations would be closed down or give specifics on when these closings would take place.

Say what you will about the Brits, those people do know how to party. Boozy royal fans packed out bars and clubs last night as they celebrated King Charles's big day. An army of revellers swathed in Union Flags and themed costumes were seen out and about across the country as they make the most of the three day Coronation weekend. Thousands braved heavy rain during the procession yesterday afternoon before taking to the streets to fill up bars and drinking venues. One woman in Birmingham city centre posed for a photo while dressed head to toe in a Union Jack costume, featuring a bright corset, blue wig and top hat.

I think she's a major league hottie. Great eyes, a brilliant smile, and that cute little over-bite thing she does once in a while. Compared to the other attention-seeking worthless piece of shit 'princess', she IS great. Juss' sayin'...

If you've never heard of Dorothea Lange, you need to google her name. She did magnificent work during the Great Depression. Some really iconic photos. You'll recognize them when you see 'em...

California’s Reparations Task Force voted on Saturday to recommend that the state issue a formal apology for slavery and potentially provide billions of dollars in cash payments, moving forward a historic effort to enact remedies and compensation for descendants of African Americans who were enslaved in the U.S.
The vote at a public meeting in Oakland marks the beginning of the end of the nine-member panel’s two-year process to craft a report recommending reparations for slavery, which is due to the state Legislature by July 1.
The report will act as a manual for lawmakers and Gov. Gavin Newsom, who established the task force in 2020 to study and gather evidence of the harms of slavery and lasting discrimination, as state elected officials begin to debate righting the wrongs of the past.

The task force has heard testimony from more than 133 witnesses, such as scholars detailing California’s racist history and economists who offered suggestions for how to quantify compensation for health disparities, mass incarceration and housing discrimination against descendants.
Read it and weep for our country:

Such a stupid simple thing to do and yet all kindsa parents are up in arms 'cause they gotta buy new backpacks or bookbags for their kids.
If this was California, th e state would give each kid one for 'free' and them tax the shit outta the parents for the privilege. Not for nothing, folks, but you can't scream for school safety and the bitch when it's implemented...
AND PS: Broward County is a VERY liberal county here.

Back when pleasing the eye was as important as function,

The Navy seems to have more than it's share of problems lately with recruitement down to almost nothing and other stupidity, but this one's costing us plenty.
The USS Ford,  the most expensive warship ever built coming in at a staggering $ 18,000,000,000.00 (yes, that is 18 Billion with a B) was delivered six years ago - in 2017 - but just made its first full deployment, because it took contractors that long to install and troubleshoot the onboard systems. It won't be capable of handling the F-35 until further modifications in 2025. Other than that, at least it floats.

When you see it, you will not be able to unsee it. Check out the shadow,
but focus on the white parts of the garage door.

  2. I'm a welder and do a lot of repair work but the level of craftsmanship on that tea pot or whatever it is, is off the charts. I can fix damn near anything, but if someone wanted me to make something like that...there's no way.
