I am constantly appalled and/or confused by todays ads.
Why some marketing genius would think a big yellow emu and a jerkoff spokesperson would make me want to buy insurance from me just makes my head hurt, but anyway, I see an ad like this and immediately think, WTF are they trying to sell hetre. Join the Army, serve our country? Or maybe it's 'Join the Army, become Spiderman'. I don't see it, but maybe 'cause I'm too old and stupid. Juss' sayin'...

Dancers at a topless bar in Los Angeles are set to become the first - and hopefully only - unionised strippers in the United States after the club's management withdrew its challenges to their guild election.
The union, Actors' Equity Association, announced the landmark recognition on Tuesday, marking the end of a 15-month battle between the dancers and the North Hollywood strip club, Star Garden, over unionization.
"This victory is so sweet," Reagan, one of the Star Garden dancers told LA Times.
"We put everything we have into this campaign, and we were fortunate to have the support and solidarity from the club's patrons, our allies and friends, the labour movement, and our union, Actors' Equity Association."
... BusinessInsider.com - After years of preparation, Chinese car companies are poised to upend the US electric-vehicle market. Industry watchers say it's only a matter of time before Chinese automakers bring their impressive - and importantly, inexpensive - electric cars to the US. After years of threatening to set up shop in America, the companies are closer than ever to making the move.
On their home turf, Chinese companies have already vanquished their American competitors, eating up market share from the likes of Ford and General Motors by offering better quality and less expensive electric cars for shoppers. They've started exporting a slew of brands to Europe too.

There are some things about this guy that I really like. He sat down for an interview yesterday on TV. There's one really good clip from it where he talks about (regretting) having voted for Biden. Find it here:
an insurance product from that company? I'll wait
over here 'till you come up with something...

The same people that buy car insurance from a yellow emu are the same people that vote for democrats.
ReplyDeleteWhen I do watch some TV I just shake my head at 90% of the commercials I see and as myself WTF was that!
ReplyDeleteWe had the "Kiddie Whip" and a truck-mounted 4 car "Ferris Wheel" come by every so often .
ReplyDeleteThere was also a guy who sold produce from the back of his truck once a week .
Bertha was quite the looker!
ReplyDeleteJust so you know, that pic of Bertha Benx is going in my "Babes in Cars" folder.
ReplyDeleteAnd re: Unionized Strippers: "Yes, I know she's old, fat and clumsy, but she gets the most stage time because she's got the seniority."
Even more frightening: My daughter-in-law is a Public Defender in Alameda County CA, which means she's a county employee, which means she's in the county employee's union. Think about it: "Unionized Lawyers." That's even scarier than "Sharks with frickin' laser beams."
To me, the "Army of One" commercials were the first sign that the Pentagon had gone off the rails. Some general approved that ad campaign - some general with over 20 years in service, a position high enough to influence policy, and no idea what the Army does.
