Let the real games begin...

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has finally taken the gloves off and launched a blistering attack on his former mentor President Donald Trump. In an wide-ranging interview to air on Piers Morgan Uncensored on Thursday night, DeSantis said "stay tuned" about his widely expected announcement that he’s running for president.
Speaking from the Governor's Mansion in Tallahassee, he declared: "I have what it takes to be president, and I can beat Biden."
But it’s what he said about Trump that will ignite a firestorm in the Republican Party. For months, DeSantis has said nothing as Trump’s escalated his verbal attacks on him, branding his ex-protégé "Ron DeSanctimonious" and "Meatball Ron."
Yesterday, Trump went nuts after DeSantis took a shot at him over his anticipated indictment over alleged payoffs to ex-lover Stormy Daniels, saying, "I don’t know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair."

Cases of the drug-resistant fungus Candida auris are now climbing at an "alarming" rate in health care facilities around the country, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned Monday, after reports of infected patients nearly doubled in 2021.
For several years after the first American cases were reported in 2016, only a few dozen Candida auris patients were reported to the CDC annually. But cases have begun to accelerate in recent years, according to the new CDC data published in the Annals of Internal Medicine.
By 2021, the annual tally of cases had increased 95%, from 756 in 2020 to 1,471 in 2021. Preliminary figures count at least another 2,377 cases for 2022. Thirty states and the District of Columbia have now reported Candida auris patients.
In case you were wondering about this incredible threat to our country, 2,377 cases represents 0.00000720303% of our population
Better roll out that new 'vaccine', guys. Jeezis friggin' Christ.

New York Post - Major League Baseball owners have cut a deal with a casino giant to provide free broadcasts of all minor league games this season - a bid to lure more viewers to the sport as rampant cord-cutting continues to shrink its audience. MLB sold the broadcasts rights to all 120 minor league teams - from the Class A Savannah Sand Gnats to the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes - to casino operator Bally’s Corp., which will offer the free streams on its Bally Live app.

At the U.S. Supreme Court today, one side will be talking about its iconic liquor bottle as its valued trademark. The other side will be talking about parody and free expression. And both will be talking about dog poop.
Jack Daniel's, the famous Tennessee whiskey company, is trying to stop production and marketing of a chewy dog toy called Bad Spaniels. The toy, shaped and decorated like a Jack Daniel's bottle, features a spaniel and the name "Bad Spaniels" on the label.

  2. Your gun slide is pretty misleading. Semi Auto pistols are also available in the UK under license. Our politicians can get them from the quartermaster in the House of Commons.

Now, being a member of the public and getting hold of these is a completely different thing. Shotguns, .22 semi autos and items like .22 RF, .223, .243 and similar caliber bolt actions are OK if you can jump through the hoops and have access to land. The others, not so good, you probably have more people in a single town in the US with the others you show than the whole of the UK has put together. Legally of course. Criminals have access to everything including full auto.

Everything is licensed, suppressors are licenses separately, and you can only have so many. Already got a .22 that slot is filled so tough luck. and they are monitored. You have regular visits from the Gestapo and the NHS informs them if you are feeling depressed for ten minutes so they can come around and take them away forever. So feeling down, need treatment, take your chances on your own if you want to keep your firearms. Kind of counterproductive but it is the way governments think.

So, all in all that slide is pretty misleading and makes us look less of a socialist hellhole than we are.

  3. UK legal: from what Kim tells us, suppressors are easier to purchase also. The major difference between here and there is needing to get a license to purchase, where they need to be kept, and certainly, the near impossibility of obtaining a carry permit, for the average civvy.

    1. The issue isn't that guns are illegal, it's that if you "own" one, your ownership is only theoretical, and effective self-defense is forbidden.

You can't carry any gun. You may have to store it in a vault at the police station and only check it out for a day at the firing range. If you can take it home, you can't store it in such a way that you can get to it and use it in defense against home invaders. If you somehow do manage the get the gun and ammo out of separate lockups, load the gun, and scare off a burglar, he'll complain to the cops, and they'll take your gun away - much, much faster than they'll come when the burglar invades your home. Finally, if you do somehow use your legally owned gun to shoot a violent criminal, you'll be doing more time than he would if he beat you into permanent disability ala "A Clockwork Orange", and likely more time for wounding a thug than the thug would get for murdering you.

  4. And in the UK suppressors (silencers) are commonplace. No $200 tax stamp and 18 month waiting period. Putting a muffler on your guns is just being polite.

  5. I have a problem with your televising minor league games. The Savannah Sand Gnats haven't been in Savannah since 2015. The Braves organization sold the franchise to the Royals and now they are the Columbia Fireflies. If you want to see baseball in Savannah the closest thing is the Savannah Bananas. They are a exhibition baseball team and has consistently sold out every game since the first season.
