They're dealing with important shit up in Starbucks City...

Am I a little too quick to call this pandering? Nah. It is. The Seattle City Council on Tuesday added 'caste' to the city's anti-discrimination laws, becoming the first U.S. city to ban caste discrimination and the first in the world to pass such a law outside South Asia.
Calls to outlaw discrimination based on caste, a division of people based on birth or descent, have grown louder among South Asian diaspora communities in the United States. But the movement has been getting pushback from some Hindu Americans who argue that such legislation maligns a specific community.

Tensions within the community were visible at Seattle City Hall on Tuesday as a noisy hearing culminated with a 6-1 vote with a majority of the council agreeing that caste discrimination crosses national and religious boundaries and that without such laws, those facing caste discrimination in the U.S. will have no protections.

Isn't that sorta what the Civil Rights Act of 1967 was all about?
I get confused easily I guess...

    2. That's not as bad as what they usually do: Imaginary fixes for real problems.

  3. This is the only reason I asked people to watch the original "Black Panther" movie, as it made all of my arguments for me. At one point in the movie, one of the characters asks T'Challa - the main character - why he hasn't opened his country to immigrants and his answer is the best answer for removing all of these groups who do not belong here, with their anti-western ideas and repatriating them, "When you import outsiders, you import their problems as well. Their problems will eventually become your problems and then what was once your country is now like every other country."
If we didn't allow these people/groups here in the first place, we wouldn't be entertaining this crap. Send them all home!
