Joe Biden did us all a favor and left the country on Moday, but it was only to slip into Kyiv to have a photo-op with Zelensky. It's the first time an American President has visited there since Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine almost a year ago.
Biden went to Ukraine to demonstrate in dramatic personal fashion his commitment to the country and its struggle to defend it's borders. Wait - WHAT?.
The highly secretive visit – which took place as air raid sirens could be heard ringing out around Kyiv while Biden walked alongside President Volodymyr Zelensky around the gold-domed St. Michael’s Cathedral – comes at a critical moment in the 12-month conflict, with Russia preparing for an expected spring offensive and Ukraine hoping to soon retake territory.

Biden announced a half-billion dollars in new assistance, saying the package would include more military equipment, such as artillery ammunition, more javelins and Howitzers. And he said new sanctions would be imposed on Moscow later this week.

A lethargic, possibly cold-shocked 4-foot-long alligator was hauled from Brooklyn’s Prospect Park Lake early Sunday near an area popular with kiddies. “It’s totally unexpected,” said Joseph Puleo, vice president of District Council 37, which reps the city park workers who ended up pulling the gator out of the water. “We were notified by someone who saw it, it wasn’t moving really at all.”
Park workers removed the errant beast, which was spotted floating on the water near Duck Island by the green space’s southeastern edge, around 8:30 a.m. They brought it to Animal Care Centers of NYC – Brooklyn, Puleo said. Park patrons who expected a quiet Sunday morning were more than a little caught off guard by the incident.

Five people, including a child, were shot when a gunman opened fire during the Krewe of Bacchus parade in New Orleans Sunday — two days before hundreds of revelers will descend on the city to celebrate Mardi Gras.
Shots rang out on Terpsichore Street around 9:30 p.m. as the parade was under way, New Orleans Police Department Chief Deputy Hans Ganthier told reporters.
Three men, a woman and a young girl were each struck by bullets. All five were rushed to local hospitals. The girl was listed in stable condition Sunday night.
