We might not have dodged all of the bullets after all...

As of 5 a.m. AST/EDT, Tropical Depression Nine was located at 13.9 N and 68.6 W, or 615 miles east-southeast of Kingston, Jamaica and 1105 miles east-southeast of Havana, Cuba. Nine is producing maximum sustained winds of 35 mph and moving west-northwest at 13 mph with a minimum central pressure of 1006 mb or 29.71 inches of mercury.

Tropical Depression Nine could become Tropical Storm “Hermine” later today as it tracks west-northwest through tonight and into Saturday. Nine will then turn towards the northwest sometime Saturday night where warmer waters could strengthen it into a hurricane near the Cayman Islands by early Monday morning. There is the usual amount of uncertainty on days four and five but folks in western Cuba and southern Florida will want to keep a close eye on this since the track could land somewhere near those areas Tuesday and Wednesday. Next week could get interesting.
Guess I better go and stock up on some bread and milk...

  3. A friend of mine that lives in Marathon Key called at noon today to see if he could stay at my condo in Crescent beach. It is a 8 hour drive if there is little traffic. He is hoping to hit the road by noon tomorrow.
