Growing up in New Jersey in the summertime,
it was all about going 'down the Shore'...
For us, that meant Wildwood. Here's some of my
favorite memories of those days...
On the boardwalk in Wildwood, NJ in the summer of '55.
That dapper little dude with the cap on is yours truly.

That strip you see in the above picture is concrete for a reason.
That's for the 'Sightseer' Tram Car to drive on.
The ride these days is $ 3.00. It was 10 cents back then.

Once a week my father would take us to the boardwalk for what
he called 'Junk Night Dinner'. Each kid got a buck apiece
to buy whatever food we wanted. I always wanted this:
A great slice of pie if ever there was one. The pies themselves were Huge. They had a unique way of making them, too. The sauce went on last and came out of a pump/gun with a hose that went into the basement!
...
Mack was from Philly. Those guys had a different word for
everything. They called them 'Cuts' instead of 'Slices'.
...
Morey's Pier on the boardwalk. You could get lost on there for days.

The boardwalk in 1939 - 83 years ago!
...
Hurricane Sandy struck the area Oct. 30, 2012.
This was one of favorite bars back in the 70's. It's on
Pacific Avenue - a main drag that runs parallel to the beach.
Sandy did quite a bit of damage.
...
Lotta frikkin' water...
...
That's enough of that. The beach offers a lot
to see and do if you look hard enough!

I remember Sid's Tavern in Cape May during the seventies. Great band too, The Maclean Affair. Great times..
