Go ahead and make bad decisions. Joe will pick up the tab.

We keep going down this road where no one is accountable for anything anymore. You make a stupid call and buy something, and Sammy bails you out...
I don't see anybody lining up to forgive the balance on my mortgage. Why are they doing this? It buys votes, that's why.

Students who used federal loans to attend ITT Technical Institute as far back as 2005 will automatically get that debt canceled after authorities found "widespread and pervasive misrepresentations" at the defunct for-profit college chain, the Biden administration announced Tuesday.
The action will cancel $3.9 billion in federal student debt for 208,000 borrowers, the Education Department said. The debt is being forgiven using a federal rule known as borrower defense, which is meant to protect students from colleges that make false advertising claims or otherwise commit fraud.
"The evidence shows that for years, ITT's leaders intentionally misled students about the quality of their programs in order to profit off federal student loan programs, with no regard for the hardship this would cause," Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said.
If that statement isn't 110% complete horseshit, nothing is. How do these people stand up there and say shit like this and expect us to buy it hook, line and sinker? No charges have ever been brought against anyone associated with the schools, there is no action taken against the schools at all - just this bullshit, arbitrary golden hand-out to people who made bad decisions.

Might take off this week.

A man flying his drone at a Florida beach spotted what appeared to be hundreds of sharks swimming near shore. Garrett Zendeck was at Cocoa Beach last week enjoying the day. He sent his drone up to capture footage of the ocean water – and says he was shocked at how many sharks he saw swimming less than 1,000-feet from shore.
"Today too, I saw a shark probably 10-feet off the shore. There was a lady and her daughter in the water right there and I saw a shark so I ran up and told them. They got out of the water pretty quick."
Beach rescue says swimmers should always choose a spot in the water near a lifeguard and try to swim in groups. If you do see a shark, experts say to keep calm and don't splash around in the water.
In one shot, a pair of men are standing chest-deep in the ocean while the shark sneaks up on them before swimming away. The shark can be seen moving away from a different group of swimmers in another clip. And a third shot shows a group of swimmers using flotation devices while riding the waves as the shark swims behind them.
In 2021 the United States led all countries with 47 confirmed cases of unprovoked shark bites, or 64% of the global total, according to the University of Florida. The number of U.S. shark bites is up 42% from 2020, which saw 33 incidents occur.
Florida leads the U.S. in shark bites, with 28 of the 47 confirmed cases (60%) from 2021, the university reported. Blacktip sharks account for about 15% of the unprovoked attacks in Florida since 1926, according to the International Shark Attack File.

Volusia County, where Daytona Beach is located, is known as the shark bite capital of the world. Ninety-four unprovoked shark bites were recorded in the county between 2012 and 2021, per ISAF data. In total, 337 unprovoked shark bites have been recorded in Volusia County since 1882.

The info behind this ad says it's from 1949, but I have
my doubts about that unless it was around for a long, long time. I remember my brother Bobby had one of these knives, and he couldn't keep shit for more than a day without losing it. If he did have one and I remember it, that would have to have been at least the mid/late 50's at least. Imagine how that company made any money selling two pieces of gum for one cent. Perspective's a bitch, ain't it?

And then we have this magnificent bastard...

Facebook will not move up its timeline for reviewing its decision to suspend Donald Trump, regardless of whether he announces he’s running again for president, a top company executive told POLITICO.
In sticking to its January timetable, Facebook has decided to keep Trump off the world’s largest social media platform even if he becomes a declared presidential candidate before then. The platform’s timeline will also be unaffected by the recent FBI search of Trump’s residence in Florida.
“We’re going to stay on that timeline,” Nick Clegg, president of global affairs at Meta, Facebook’s parent company, said in an interview. Facebook blocked Trump following posts the company said violated its incitement of violence policy during the deadly riot at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. The company later set a date of Jan. 7, 2023, for a decision on whether to reinstate him.
If Trump announces that he’s running for president in 2024, it may increase outside pressure on Facebook to make a call more quickly. Many Republicans have already argued that the company is unfairly silencing Trump on a platform used by millions of Americans, and Trump’s potential opponents do not face similar restrictions. Meanwhile, some of Trump’s critics have called for a permanent ban.

The debate over how to handle a potential Trump candidacy is also an indication of the new political struggles ahead for social media platforms both in November and in 2024 as they try to avoid a repeat of the misinformation that plagued the 2020 vote and helped fuel the violence in its aftermath.

Liz Cheney compared herself to former President Abraham Lincoln during her concession speech shortly after her loss to Trump-backed Republican challenger Harriet Hageman.
Cheney claimed she lost her primary election only because she failed to “go along with President Trump’s lie about the 2020 election.”

I wonder what the back story is on this.
Looks like something from Monty Python...

  1. Now the big question is how much damage Lame Duck Liz can do between now and January.

  2. The Bazooka ad has the date in its instructions, stating that entries must be postmarked by December 15, 1949. It's believable that they kept the promotion going into the 1950's. I'm a 50's kid, and we all had folding knives, even the girls. We brought 'em to school, too (at least, we brought ours to Girl Scout and Boy Scout meetings held on campus. Part of our gear).

  3. I find it hard to believe my brother could hang on to anything that long. He had two wives didn't last that long. Juss' sayin'...
