All hail - again - the Governor of Florida. This guy really is a super star...

He doesn't suck up to, cater to, pander to or give in to unions - especially the ridiculously powerful teacher's union, who - I'm sure of it - will most likely sue him to keep him from implementing this. Florida needs teachers. DeSantis is solving the problem. Case closed - hopefully.
Florida governor Ron DeSantis said Tuesday he wants to relax regulations to encourage retired law enforcement and first responders to fill vacant teacher positions as the state grapples with a shortage of educators. We believe that the folks that have served our communities have an awful lot to offer,' DeSantis said at an event in Port Richey. The governor also indicated he would be waiving exam fees for first responders and law enforcement for the certification necessary for teaching, just as he had done for military veterans.

Teachers across Florida will also be getting raises after Gov. Ron DeSantis said Monday he intends to approve $800 million toward pay increases as part of next year's $112.1 billion proposed Florida state budget.

While the Florida Department of Education estimated in February they would need to fill approximately 9,000 vacant teacher positions, the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity found 5,837 open teaching positions online in June, up 53% from June of 2021.
