Okay - I'll admit I was a little pissed off when they put my picture in next to the word 'Jackass', but still - this guy...
A California man threatened to bomb Merriam-Webster's HQ over the dictionary's definition of the word female as 'a gender identity that is the opposite of male.'
Jeremy David Hanson, 34, of Rossmoor, California, faces a federal charge of interstate communication of threats to commit violence. Hanson's alleged antics forced the firm to shutter its offices for five days.
He could now face up to five years in prison and a fine of $250,000, and is also said to have been upset over the firm's definitions of the words girl and woman.
Woman is defined by the site as 'an adult female person,' while a girl is described as 'a female child from birth to adulthood' or 'a person whose gender identity is female.'
In October 2021, Hanson is alleged to have sent threatening messages to the Massachusetts-based Merriam Webster headquarters over specific gender identity definitions through the site's 'Contact Us' page, as well as in the comment sections for various words..
And on October 2, 2021, Hanson allegedly used the handle '@anonYmous' to write on the page for the word 'female': 'It is absolutely sickening that Merriam-Webster now tells blatant lies and promotes anti-science propaganda. There is no such thing as 'gender identity.' The imbecile who wrote this entry should be hunted down and shot.'
Hanson is also accused of sending the following message to the 'Contact Us' page: 'You [sic] headquarters should be shot up and bombed. It is sickening that you have caved to the cultural Marxist, anti-science tranny [sic] agenda and altered the definition of 'female' as part of the Left's efforts to corrupt and degrade the English language and deny reality. You evil Marxists should all be killed. It would be poetic justice to have someone storm your offices and shoot up the place, leaving none of you commies alive.'
On October 8, 2021, Hanson sent another message to the 'Contact Us' page saying he wanted to 'bomb your offices for lying and creating fake…'.
As a result of the threats, Merriam-Webster closed its offices in Springfield and New York City for approximately five business days.
The dictionary company sparked anger online last year after defining trans woman as 'a woman assigned male at birth.' Critics said the definition was nonsensical and that it kowtowed to woke pressure, but it is unclear exactly which definition first angered Hanson.

FWIW, "Rossmoor" is a retirement community.
