While excavating a wine factory dating back to the Byzantine era, archaeologists in Israel unearthed a gold ring featuring what they presume to be an amethyst stone — leading them to believe the ring may have been worn for “hangover prevention” purposes.

When I was in High School my after-school and weekend job was in a sporting-goods store called Visco Brothers Sports on Bloomfield Avenue in Newark.
One of the two brothers was Albert, who everyone called Abalou for some reason or another. Didn't matter why, it was a cool nickname.
Anyway, Abalou had a great saying for when I - or anyone else - would screw up. He'd always say "You could fuck up a one-car funeral". Brilliant.
If he were still alive, I think we'd probably
hear that quite often going forward.

Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey came out against vaccine mandates for children on Tuesday - even as the father of three revealed he has gotten both shots.
McConaughey, 52, said that while he and his wife are both vaccinated, he doesn't want to mandate the COVID-19 jabs for children, including his kids - aged 13, 11 and 8.

"Bar Vitelli" GF #1
ReplyDeleteBeen to Temple Bar Pub, and got lost inside as you can in so many really old Dublin pubs. The "Temple Bar" may refer to the location, an artificial "bar" created centuries ago by filling in the marshy north side of a bend in the River Liffey, thus forming a "bar." The Temple family moved into the area in the 1600's, I think, and gave their name to the bar. Maybe. Nice Wikipedia writeup on that.
ReplyDeleteI think it's owned by Russians now...
