I am this close to giving up any beliefs I had in science. You should be also.

The people that scream 'Follow the science' the loudest are the biggest idiots in the bunch, and they're determined to prove it...

Science can be truly wondrous - it  moves our understanding of the world forward in a way that everyone can get behind. With rare exceptions, for instance, people of all political orientations, races, and nationalities can agree that water freezes at 32°, gravity draws objects toward the ground and makes shit roll down hill, and the Earth rotates around the Sun and not vice versa.
COVID has turned all of these ideas on their collective heads. There was specific science in the development of the mRNA 'vaccines'.
In the application of rules and mandates and restrictions relative to the pandemic, everything science teaches us was throw down the fuckin' toilet. Politicians used the pandemic to assert control, and used it to rig a Presidential election. There was no science in that.

I never saw the water mark in the middle of this picture. That always pisses me off and I try real hard not to use any watermarked or otherwise signed or attributed stuff here on the blog. Anyway, there's a metaphor and a simple message in these little greetings I create. The metaphor is visual, the message is simple.

Martin Luther King's 'I Have A Dream' speech at
the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC in 1963.

He spoke to, for and about all of us, and he spoke only of love and respect for all of us. There was no derisiveness or hatred in the man. I'm grateful to have been alive for this. He was a  great man and a great thinker. Where are the great thinkers now when they're needed as much as ever?

Such an incredible phenomenon has been predicted for decades by Albert Einstein’s theory of general relativity, but this is the first time the light from behind a black hole has been directly seen.

In 1942, the United States was faced with a severe shortage of pilots, and leaders gambled on an experimental program to help fill the void: Train women to fly military aircraft so male pilots could be released for combat duty overseas. The group of female pilots was called the Women Airforce Service Pilots — WASP for short

Looks like racial bias was well on its way to being eradicated in this country - all the way up 'til 22 July 2009
"I don't know, not having been there and not seeing all the facts, what role race played in that. But I think it's fair to say, number one, any of us would be pretty angry; number two, that the Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home, and, number three, what I think we know separate and apart from this incident is that there's a long history in this country of African Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately."
    Barack Hussein Obama
He could have stopped with the first sentence and race relations in our country would likely have continued on its prior path.

  4. Not being a meatball Joe, just became unexpectedly busy the last 3 months or so. I came across a beautiful and newish closed franchise restaurant on a corner of a busy street with ample parking in the town I currently reside in. Every piece of equipment and fixture in the place was not even 4 years old. My son who had been looking to move our old family business the last couple of years or so moved in and sold the old biz to two of our old employees who are already doing just fine. The area is now heavy Hispanic and they are a Hispanic husband and wife who have worked for me or my son since they were teens, Well the new place is up and running and doing extremely well because our old name is very well known by the many ex-pats who live out by me now. The problem is that since the Dems have deemed that healthy people should still be able to collect unemployment benefits we can't staff it properly so now my old ass is there almost 7 days a week doing everything from bussing to bartending! Well today I said ef it and headed to my daughters in Chicago and in 2 more hours I should be firmly planted in a bar stool in my favorite joint on the south Western Ave stretch down there. I do check in on the blog and miss the banter however family comes first. It's been fun, it's just been a bit much. And as of last week we are starting to fill some of the roles that we have holes in. My son found a family of 6 Hispanics about 20 miles from here who all want a job! I don't care what you say about them folks, but they certainly are not afraid to work. Hopefully I'll pop by a bit more often
