Whatever the 'new normal' is gonna be, leave me outta the mix, thank you.

It's taken me 67 years to get used to the old normal. Why the fuck would I wanna change now? I'm not gonna live to be 134 fer fuck sake...

...

In fact, I'm SO old, I remember back when politicians
actually knew how to craft a budget.

These are some disagreeable motherfuckers, aren't they?

Billie Holiday with Bernie Weissman, owner and manager of The Sugar Hill Club at 913 Broad Street next door to the Rialto Theatre , Newark, New Jersey, April 1957. I was born and raised in Newark. The club was gone by the time I was old enough and could make my way downtown.

Newark does have a proud Jazz heritage that is carried on to this day on WBGO, an NPR station based in Newark that may well be the single best Jazz Station in the country. I listen to it streaming it online every night when we have our daily cocktails out in the lanai. Here's the link here - ya might wanna bookmark it:

A court has ruled that the shit they put the Subway sandwiches on is too sugary to meet the legal definition of ‘bread’. This is what they're using the courts for in Ireland?

Ireland’s highest court isn’t sweet on tax breaks for footlongs.
The country’s Supreme Court ruled that the starch used in Subway sandwiches is too sugary to meet the definition of “bread” — a legal distinction that would have saved the firm some dough.
In deciding whether to give the fast-food chain a tax break for serving a “staple” food item, the five-judge panel ruled that the bread’s sugar-to-flour content is roughly five times too high to qualify

WTF has happened to that country now? Jeez.

Forget Tesla. Shares of Elon Musk’s rocket company are soaring to new heights on growing excitement over its burgeoning satellite business.
Demand for privately held shares of SpaceX has jumped 25 percent in recent weeks, driven by fresh headlines about plans to launch a network of 12,000 pint-size satellites that can beam high-speed internet access to far-flung locations worldwide.
“We just traded some at $340 a share,” a Wall Street source who brokers such deals said. That’s up by a quarter from the stock’s $270-a-share value on Aug. 18, when SpaceX completed a weeks-long private share offering that raised $1.9 billion.
AND YOU CAN'T HAVE ANY.

These women are usually mutts. This one don't seem so bad.

Courtney Roznowski, 32, pleaded no contest to one count of exposing intimate parts to a child, under a plea deal that saw the most serious charge of sexual assault dropped. The more serious charges, sexual assault of a student by a staff member, were dropped because Roznowski wasn’t employed by the Green Bay School District when she slept with the student, who she had met while working as a support staffer at Southwest High School.
She admitted to starting a sexual relationship with the student in July 2019, after acting as his mentor, according to a police report.
That's a kid who hit the pooty-tang lottery, huh?

Debate Commission Considers Granting Mic Control To Moderator

The presidential debate commission says it will soon adopt changes to its format after 'Trump repeatedly interrupted Biden' and the moderator during the first debate.

The potential changes could be introduced as part of the Commission on Presidential Debates' (CPD) pledge to make the next showdown more 'orderly', after Tuesday's chaotic 90 minute debate was branded a 'dumpster fire' and a 'national embarrassment.' In the aftermath, critics demanded changes to the format, with some saying it was the worst presidential debate in history.
Wallace was faulted for not being able to control the unruly president, who would not stop talking. The CPD said Wednesday that it's 'clear that additional structure should be added to the format of the remaining debates to ensure a more orderly discussion of the issues.'
