Perspective is everything

Imagine being so bored - and pathetic - that you spend your nights spamming blog comment boards...

Sadly I have to delete about 30 of these things every day. These are some seriously fucked up trolls. Perspective may be everything but my perspective on them is that I'd love to beat the livin' fuck out of 'em. Juss' sayin'.

There's a big hole in the Blogosphere today.

I was very sorry to hear that one of our fellow bloggers, Skip Tucker, died yesterday. He was a funny guy and his blog was really starting to gain traction. Our politics were miles apart but that didn't matter. It was his joy of life and sense of humor that were all that did count. He'll be missed.

If you never saw the blog, take a look and scroll backwards. You'll enjoy it. It's here: http://skiptucker.blogspot.com/

The Development got a bad rap about 15 years ago on a CBS Sunday Night story about the place being a hot spot for fuckin' around. The reality here is there are probably three or four women (over 70 mind you) for every single guy the same age.

Trust me - when yer at a bar and all the women are in there 70's and 80's and they're drunk and singing along with an entertainer doing a really bad version of Sweet Caroline, the last thing you wanna think about is seeing them naked. But it does happen.

As we used to say on St. John: 'The odds are good but the goods are odd'.

The move is on — to leave New York City. The exodus that began at the start of the coronavirus outbreak, with many New Yorkers departing to their beach and country homes, has continued unabated as more leave for good, according to city moving companies overwhelmed by the avalanche of would-be expats.

“People are fleeing the city in droves,” says Moon Salahie, owner of Elite Moving & Storing in Yonkers, who has been working nonstop since the city began Phase 1 of its reopening in June. Salahie said 90 percent of the moves are to the suburbs and mostly families with kids worried about the school year. He’s packed people out of neighborhoods all over Manhattan.

“The least movement would be the Park Avenue and Fifth Avenue crowds,” he said. “Those people don’t have to leave because they have second homes.”

Ya can't blame any of 'em that city is so fucked up right now. Has anyone figured out who's gonna be left to pay the bills when this asshole deBlazio is finished?

TIS THE SEASON: Josephine could become a tropical storm by Thursday, much earlier than the current record set by Jose on Aug. 22 during the infamous 2005 hurricane season. That year had 28 tropical cyclones, the most on record and managed to extend the list of names into the Greek alphabet and saw several powerful and long-lived hurricanes.

George Carlin's wife died early in 2008 and George followed her, dying in July 2008. It is ironic George Carlin - comedian of the 70's and 80's - could write something so very eloquent and so very appropriate.

An observation by George Carlin:
(Or at least attributed to him)

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships.

These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete.

Remember to spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

And always remember, life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by those moments that take our breath away.

It's a pissing contest between the Mayor, the Police Chief,
and the City Council. In the end, nobody wins.
As the city of Ocala wrestles with an ordinance requiring face coverings for people inside businesses, Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods told his employees they will not wear masks at work, and visitors to his office can’t wear masks either. Woods, in an email dated Aug. 11, said "my order will stand as is when you are on-duty/working as my employee and representing my Office – masks will not be worn."

Ocala City Council passed an emergency ordinance last week requiring people to wear masks inside businesses. Mayor Kent Guinn vetoed it Monday and the council met again Wednesday and voted to override the veto.
Ocala and other municipalities in Marion County also advise officers not to wear masks while on duty so their communication to people they encounter is clear. Nationally, there is no consistent approach. Officers have been disciplined for not following state directives to wear masks, but Florida does not have a state-wide order.

There's a nation-wide coin shortage.

Seriously. There really is. I wouldn't kid you.

The problem is two-pronged: The U.S. Mint significantly reduced its production of coins after implementing safety measures to protect its employees from the coronavirus. Consumers are also depositing fewer coins at U.S. financial institutions, according to the Federal Reserve.

Because of coronavirus fears, many people have switched to using credit cards and mobile payments to avoid handling money. Meanwhile, the shutdown also forced some businesses to close that would normally help keep coins moving.

“With establishments like retail shops, bank branches, transit authorities, and laundromats closed, the typical places where coin enters our society have slowed or even stopped the normal circulation of coin,” Michael White, a spokesman for the U.S. Mint, said in a statement.

On June 15, the Federal Reserve started capping the amount of coins it allots to banks and financial institutions. The measure is expected to be temporary and based on institutions’ historical orders.

Bust open that coin jar you have and cash 'em in. This'll make it easy for you. I have this set. Do it the way I do it -  crack open a coupla beers and sort the coins.

This is the sprawling California estate snapped up by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle - making them neighbors with celebs Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres. Santa Barbara property documents show the sprawling nine-bedroom and 16-bathroom mansion in upscale Montecito was bought on June 18 for an eye-watering $14,650,000. The 14,563-square-foot home sits on 5.4 acres of land and immaculately clipped hedges border the estate's stone-pillared entry gates.

According to Zillow, the entrance opens onto a wide lane paved with hand-cut Santa Barbara Stone that leads through a grand archway of trees to the main residence. The main house includes a library, office, spa with a separate dry and wet sauna, gym, game room, arcade, theater, wine cellar and five-car garage.

How much money did these motherfuckers escape with? It's really unbelievable. At least to me...

I really am left to wonder what exactly the fuck is going on in our country. People electing people so outrageously fuckin' stupid - and batshit crazy - that they allow lawlessness and chaos to reign over their cities. It's maddening.

Eventually people who disagree politically will be jailed just for their opinions. Wait and see. It's scary.

Do you have one of these?

It's small enough so I leave ours right on the kitchen counter - I use it that often. I make sandwiches on it to take to work with me and there's usually a microwave in the houses where I'm working so I can heat 'em up when I'm ready.

This thing makes an unbelievably outrageously good toasted sandwich.
If you've never had one. I can't explain it - ya gotta try it for yourself.
