A funny thing happened

On the way to today...

It's hard to imagine but it was 38 years ago today that MTV was first broadcast.

The channel changed the way we react to music forever. It almost nearly killed rock and roll forever. Popstars always dominated MTV. Michael Jackson, Madonna, Elton John, yeesh. Please with that pop crap.
This was the very first video shown on MTV:

It's was 'Video killed the radio star by a band called The Buggles. That shoulda tipped us off right there.

...

For about ten years it was
all about the music.

And then it wasn't. Award shows, specials, and then finally self-produced shows.
Shows that REALLY SUCKED.

Like Jersey Shore.

A show more about bad behavior than anything else that was populated by a buncha friggin' goombahs from Staten Island. Staten friggin' Island. Please.

These jerkoffs.
...

MTV should really change it's name to something more appropriate.

How about BTV?

Here's a laugh - Joni Mitchell ran off the stage crying after only 3 songs because no one was paying any attention to her!

...

Johnny Winter was a kick-ass Texas blues guitar slinger.

If you don't know who he was, here's a taste from Woodstock (summer of 1969):

...

I digress.

Late afternoon shadow on the cushions on my lanai couch the other day. How friggin' cool is that?

(and yes - that is a Jimi Hendrix pillow)
