A coalition of local Democratic and grassroots organizations (has anyone ever properly defined what that means to any of you?) is organizing a series of 'sign-holding rallies' across The Villages to encourage residents to vote early in the upcoming election. The “No Kings: Vote Early” events will take place concurrently on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
The gatherings are being co-hosted by The Villages Democratic Club, Central Florida Tri-County Indivisible, and the Sumter County Democratic Party. Organizers say the goal of the nationwide movement is to emphasize that political power belongs to the people, but only if they use it at the ballot box.
Participants are being encouraged to form “celebratory caravans” with their neighbors to travel to one of the rally sites. The sad thing here is that these people are serious - or at least think they are. How does acting - and dressing - like a child in any way influence an intelligent voter?

A driving lesson turned tragic for a Michigan father after his own daughter, who he was teaching to drive, accidentally ran him over.

There's a reason most people live where they live. As one of our readers said yesterday in a comment about heritage, he said something to the effect that we shouldn't care where someone's great grandfathers were born nearly as much as where we choose to - or are forced to - live our lives. And where we live our lives should somewhat immune to outside influences.
Imagine someone from Chicago trying to force a New Yorker to change how they make their pizzas. I know it's a stretch, but then again maybe it isn't - if you get where I'm trying to go with this.
