Okay, THIS is wild. A hurricane is hammering Hawaii while it’s SNOWING on top of Mauna Kea, where wind gusts have topped 150 mph. Tropical weather at sea level. Blizzard conditions on a volcano.
Mother Nature really said, “How many seasons do you want?” Hawaii: Yes, please. How about everything you got?
Meteorologists around the country took to social media to point out that the storm was producing snow on the summit of Mauna Kea. "It's happening. Hurricane Lala is currently producing SNOW on the summit of Mauna Kea," FOX Weather's Greg Diamond said on X. While snow on Hawaii’s mountains may sound unusual, it is not uncommon on Mauna Kea, especially given that the summit sits nearly 13,800 feet above sea level.
