Anyway, Icahn Enterprises on Tuesday announced that the company reached a deal to sell Pep Boys to Mavis, one of the largest independent tire and service providers in the country, in a $700 million deal. Pep Boys has nearly 800 locations around the country and offers auto services including tires, repairs, oil changes and maintenance. The deal will expand Mavis' presence in new and existing markets, particularly in the western U.S., where Pep Boys has a significant presence, and will increase Mavis's network to over 4,400 service centers around the U.S. and Canada.
Never did that but do remember guns and bicycles. Bought a lot of inner tubes because of puncture vines. Had a repair kit that you lit the patch on fire.

Years ago, I tried to purchase one tire for my daughter's car. She hit the curb and had a blowout. The other three tires were in good shape. Guy at Pep Boys claimed it was illegal to sell me only one tire and they have to sell them in pairs. I never went back.
ReplyDeleteNo different than the "quick change" oil places who want to sell you a new air filter, cabin filter, flush your brake lines, change the anti-freeze, change the transmission fluid, change the differential fluid, etc, etc. Hell a dealership wanted to change my sparkplugs for $370. Hmm, a 4 pack of Champions was $20 and the plugs in the engine are all on top of the motor and no obstructions to get to them other than pulling the coil packs. I'm sure there are a lot of people who have zero idea what a spark plug even is so...
