As someone famously once said - 'The situation in California remains fluid'. I think it was timothy Leary...
Heated elections remain heavily contested and fluid. For example, the race for the next Los Angeles Mayor has seen incumbent Karen Bass defending her lead in a very close multi-candidate field.
Socialist Nithya Raman has overtaken Spencer Pratt for the first time in the race for second place in Los Angeles’ mayoral contest. New results released by Los Angeles County show Raman with 196,198 votes, or 27.12%, compared with Pratt’s 193,085 votes, or 26.69%.
The latest tally gives Raman a 3,113-vote lead after she trailed Pratt by 7,494 votes just one day earlier. Raman picked up 19,096 votes in Sunday’s count, more than double Pratt’s gain of 8,489 votes. The latest batch of ballots produced a 10,607-vote swing between the two candidates, erasing Pratt’s advantage and moving Raman into second place.
Political observers have long noted that ballots counted later in California elections often come from younger and more progressive voters, a demographic that has been a key source of support for Raman.

Vermont Socialist U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders made speeches throughout Maine Tuesday with Democrat Senate candidate Graham Platner.
To me it was odd to see a Jew campaigning for a guy with a Nazi tattoo on his chest. This makes as much sense as Big Bird campaigning for Colonel Sanders.

All religions are figments of someone's imagination somewhere along the line. Many religions worship the same God - but choose to do it differently, ie: Catholics vs. Baptists vs. Presbyterians. Islam is different - it's not really a religion per se as it is more like an ideology. They do an awful lotta prayin' for a buncha people with murder in their hearts. Juss' sayin'...

A federal lawsuit seeks to halt the upcoming UFC fight card on the White House South Lawn in a mixed martial arts show timed for President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday and part of the celebration of the nation’s 250th anniversary.
The filing Saturday by the Public Integrity Project on behalf of two Virginia residents contends the Trump administration’s authorization of the June 14 event was unlawful. The lawsuit says such approval violated National Park Service regulations prohibiting sporting events on federal parklands, Congress did not consent to the towering arch overlooking the event space and no environmental review was conducted before the construction.
“This is fundamentally a private, commercial, corrupt use of our most sacred national monuments for private gain,” said Brendan Ballou, a lawyer for the plaintiffs. “And that is what is motivating this lawsuit.”

ReplyDeleteIf the 20th century taught us anything, it has taught us that atheists are perfectly capable of murdering people by the 10s of millions. As an agnostic (don't know, don't care), I would rather my neighbors believed in "turn the other cheek", "do good to those that persecute you", "love your neighbor", and "love thy enemies" than neighbors that believed all religions are the same or believed in "convert, enslave, or kill non-believers".
