It's a legit question - do you really own your home, or are you still renting it from the State? You can pay off the mortgage, fix the roof, mow the lawn, and call it home for decades - but the tax bill never stops showing up.
Across Florida, many homeowners asked a simple question: If a home is fully paid for, do we ever truly own it? Whether you agree or disagree, it's a debate that sparks strong opinions about property rights, taxes, and the cost of living in the Sunshine State.
Starting in January 2027, homes assessed as under 150k will pay no 'property taxes'. That number'll go up to 250k the next year. To qualify, you must be a full-time resident of Florida - what we call 'homesteader' status.
We will still have to pay our towns/counties for essential services and schools, so basically all they're doing is shifting some of the burden on to snowbirds and vacation home owners.

Another day, another big shooting thing. When I was younger (Late teens/Twenties) I was okay with being in a crowd. Rock concerts, street festivals, the likes. Now I avoid them like the plague. Not so much 'cause of crowd size, but it's the discomfort I suffer from being around too many people I don't know.
Looking back, all of my life I've been a strict adherent to the 'never have your back to the front door of a bar or resataurant' theory. Maybe it's because I grew up with so many gangsters (the real kind) and wiseguys that it's always been second nature to me. Juss' sayin'...

It's kinda sad to see what become of him of late, but the truth is, we are all just damn lucky to have been able to watch him for so long when he was in his prime.
There are but a rare few atheletes anywhere who've been as dominant as he was when he was at the top of his game. Mark Spitz comes to mind, as does Ted Williams and Sandy Kofax - certainly Michael Jordan is a standout, too...

The Dodgers celebrated Pride Night on Friday night at Uniqlo Field and donned their traditional Pride Night hats. Freddie Freeman hit a walk-off home run in the ninth inning to give the Dodgers a 1-0 victory over the Angels.
Blake Treinen came out of the bullpen in the top half of the inning, wearing the Dodgers’ usual blue and white “LA” hat, while the rest of the team wore an LGBTQ+-inspired hat that had the color of the rainbow on the “LA” logo. Treinen is a devout Christian and did not play along with their 'Pride' bullshit. Good for him.

The 'Florida Man of the Year' awards were given out yesterday. Wasn't even close. 'Alligator Al' from Alligator Alley took first place hands down. Even the Russian judge gave him a 9.5 for his bareback style.
