He told his kids he could chin and bear it. A 'daredevil' (latin for 'bonehead') dad balanced a running chainsaw on his chin to break a world record. David Rush of Idaho set the record for the longest duration balancing a running chainsaw on the chin at 4 minutes 0.99 seconds.
The technology project manager, who is his son’s assistant soccer coach, accomplished the frightening feat at the team’s last practice of the season. “As I explained what I was about to do, the parents’ faces told the story: disbelief and genuine concern,” Rush, who has competed on “America’s Got Talent,” explained on his website.
Rush, who holds the most concurrent Guinness World Records titles, with over 350, actually set the record last May, but the record book just confirmed it this year. He explained that to qualify for the record, “the chainsaw has to cut wood before the attempt begins, and the blade must remain engaged and spinning for the entire duration.”
“I had a safety crew stationed nearby with one job: unplug the saw the moment it fell,” he added. Although he is not interested in attempting the perilous record again, Rush said he’s pleased with his unusual accomplishment.
I'm sorry I have to admit this, but whenever I see people doing stupid shit like this, I get a weird, vicarious thrill out of it. I worry more for myself than I do guys like this. Juss' sayin'...
